Climate Resilient Gender Responsive LAPA
With support from CASA 2/DAI, ECARDS Nepal is implementing a capacity-building initiative to develop a Climate Resilient Gender Responsive Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA) across three local levels in Nepal.
Recent Event
ECARDS Nepal hosted a LAPA endorsement event at Gokulganga Rural Municipality in Ramechhap district. The event was chaired by Mr. Kaji Bahadur Khadka, President of Gokulganga RM, and attended by local government officials, farmers, community members, and the ECARDS team.
LAPA Formulation Process
- Entry-level workshop conducted.
- Settlement-level consultations at each ward.
- Vulnerability Risk Assessment (VRA), GIS-based biophysical analysis, and weather pattern analysis.
- Extensive literature review and fieldwork.
- Primary and secondary data collection and community discussions.
LAPA Endorsement
The draft LAPA, including VRA results, was shared at the federal level among government officials and stakeholders. After incorporating feedback, the final LAPA document was endorsed at the local level.
Event Outcomes
- Increased awareness and capacity building among local governments and communities.
- A gender-responsive climate-resilient LAPA was endorsed.
Expected Impact
This endorsed plan aims to help local governments tackle climate vulnerabilities and enhance resilience capacities within Gokulganga Rural Municipality.
